Dion Michael Sharrar (Beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Family Member & Servant of Christ Jesus), 47 currently of Taylor, MI left this world behind suddenly on January 4th 2022 to faithfully be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On April 27th 1974 Dion was born at Lakeview General Hospital in Battle Creek, MI to Ms. Sherri Jo Coffman also of Battle Creek, MI. Throughout growing up Dion enjoyed riding bikes around his family’s neighborhood pretending to be a jedi fighter jet from “Star Wars “or one of them redneck duke boys from “Dukes of Hazard”. As a boy Dion also played little league baseball on numerous teams in the Springfield Recreational League. Later in his teens Dion enjoyed playing Atari, Nintendo, collecting sports cards and much more. You could always find Dion surrounded by many friends laughing it up, wearing rhinestone hats, drinking mountain dew big slams, listening to all kinds of music, and roasting each other in fun. Dion lived for the “Friday Night Lights” as he was a varsity letterman in high school for football, tennis, and many other sports.
Dion was a die-hard Detroit sports fan. The Michigan Wolverines Football & Basketball teams of the 90s were amongst his favorites along with the infamous “Bad boy” Piston teams, 84 Tigers World Champs, the “Grind Line” Red Wings and the “at best” average Lions teams (Sorry bro had too ha-h) … Dion had a one-of-a-kind relationship with his Grandfather Donald E. Coffman whom preceded him in Heaven. Dion and his “Grand Paw” fished, camped, and shared many meals together at the legendary Arlene’s Truck Stop near the Battle Creek Airport. Dion spent many summers at Tri-Lake Trails Campground in Marshall, MI keeping his “Grand Paw” company with an occasional few days spent at the World Hot-Air Balloon Championships and Air-Show in Battle Creek, MI with his cousins and little brother. Some of Dion’s favorite memories were the fun he had at the Coffman family reunions and cousin reunions growing up.
From a Trip to Disney to being a Cedar Point Seasonal Pass Holder Dion loved rollercoasters and the occasional cheese on a stick to snack on. Theme Parks and Country Music’s “B95 Birthday Bash” were his adult hangouts sprinkled with a whole lot of NASCAR! Tennessee mountain vacations, Puerto Rico and the most recent South Carolina beach getaway were some of his fondest vacation spots. Dion was also a foodie, if you hung out with him it was probably at a 4th of July bomb-fire eating s’mores or at a cook-out where if you were lucky he would bless you with some new recipe he seen on Paula Dean!
Dion shared the majority of his life with the same exclusive best friends (You know who you are) but one friend in particular; his roommate Chris Cullen was the one whom earned the title brother due to all the love, support and care the two shared throughout life’s journey even through some pretty adverse times. Dion’s absolute favorite person in this world and beyond besides Jesus (His words) is his Niece Danica Rose Sharrar. UD as he is referred to by Danica, couldn’t pass by a Disney Store or any other toy store without showering Danica with whatever she wanted. UD taught her how to be thankful for Gods Blessings & Favor, and how to be a shark at Monopoly.
Dion was also gifted intellectually; he received many scholastic awards during his years pursuing his education in Information Technology and Business Management. He finally decided to settle into a professional career in Transportation Logistics near the Metro-Detroit Area. Dion enjoyed the fast-paced world of Transportation Logistics/Trucking. Many co-workers and route operators loved Dion’s sarcasm and sense of humor. Dion often spoke highly of the dispatchers and truck drivers he worked alongside and referred to them as family.
Dion’s faith in Jesus Christ kept him humble, grounded and motivated to be a light to everyone he crossed paths with and got him out of the darkest of pits in his life. 47 seems young but what a life lived Dion, and what an example set for a true road to redemption through a full repentance in Christ! Dion, job well done good and faithful servant, now enter the gates for great is your reward!!!
