David D. Delaney, 82, of Marshall died on Tuesday May 12, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family following a long illness.
David was born on August 6, 1937, in Marshall to John and Mary (Tenner) Delaney. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1956 and attended one year at Olivet College. On February 28, 1959, he married Jean A. Duttlinger in Marshall.
Dave retired from Post Cereal in Battle Creek in 1995 after working 29 years. He was a firefighter with Marshall Township Fire Department for 20 years. He also umpired and officiated football for many years. After his retirement he stayed busy with part time jobs. He was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church. Dave enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing. He was an avid collector of license plates and Munising woodware.
He is survived by wife Jean; children, Matt (Kimberly) Delaney, Karen (Patrick) Runde, Jane (Jon) Reedstrom, Mari Delaney; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William "Bill" (Mary) Delaney. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Thomas Eugene Delaney; a grandson Mike Delaney in 2013; a brother, John Delaney; and a sister, Mary Jo Delaney.
Due to COVID-19 a private family mass will take place on Friday May 15, 2020, at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Marshall with Reverend Father Craig Lusk officiating. A private family interment will follow at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery.
