Darwin Hugh Isham

Darwin “Dar” Hugh Isham, 78, of Marshall, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Ovid Healthcare Center.

Darwin was born on October 24, 1944 to Hugh and Ilo (Hurford) Isham in Jackson, Michigan. He graduated from Jackson High School in (1962). Darwin went on to work for the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department as a Lieutenant for 25 years. He worked both out on the road and in the jail.

Darwin married the love of his life, Valerie Deyo on July 17, 1976. They had 47 wonderful years together.

Darwin was a member of the Masons in Marshall as well as Fredonia Grange and the Fraternal Order of Police for the State of Michigan. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially to the U.P , golfing with his son, going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, and the outdoors especially mowing his yard. Darwin was a fan of Detroit Lions Football team. He enjoyed watching the games with family and calling his son Mike to discuss all the big plays. Over the years he had many furry friends and he loved all his dogs.

Darwin is survived by his wife, Valerie (Deyo) Isham; his son, Mike (Teresa) Isham; grandchildren, Alec Isham, Wil Isham, Luke Isham, and Carter Isham; step grandchildren Derek, Kate, and Alex; sister-in-law, Kathy Deyo, his faithful canine companion, Baxter; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Daryl Isham; and sister, Darlene Haines.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11am at Lyon Lake Cemetery, 8803 17 Mile Road, Fredonia Township, Michigan 49068. Immediately following, friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Gathering at Fredonia Grange, 13738 C-Drive S, Marshall, Michigan 49068.
