In Loving Memory of Darlene "Nana" Brubaker
July 21, 1944 - November 6, 2023
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darlene Brubaker, fondly known as "Nana," on November 6, 2023. She was 79 years old. Darlene passed in her daughter's home surrounded by her family.
Darlene was born on July 21, 1944, in Ohio, to Clarence and Blanche Pomeroy. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1962 where she met the love of her life, Robert Brubaker. They married on July 29, 1963, and enjoyed 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Darlene was a dedicated stay-at-home mom, raising four children with love and patience. In addition to her role as a mother, Darlene's nurturing nature extended beyond her own family. She started a daycare out of her home, touching the lives of countless other children with her love and support.
Beyond running a daycare from her home, Darlene held numerous jobs within the community of Marshall, Michigan. Throughout the years, she worked at Felpausch, the Dugout, and as a Mary Kay consultant. Then she started to fulfill her favorite role of all, caring full time for her many grandchildren.
Nana's life was a testament to the power of love and the joy found in family. Her greatest pride and happiness came from being a grandmother, a role she embraced with unwavering devotion and boundless affection. Through her nurturing spirit, she enriched the lives of her grandchildren with warmth, wisdom, and an abundance of love.
Beyond her role as a beloved Nana, Darlene's life was marked by moments of strength and deep compassion. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and heard.
In addition to her role as a cherished grandmother, Darlene leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Papa”, children, Patty Loyer, Terrie (Eddie) Polendo, Alan (Caree) Brubaker, and Andy (Michele Picketts Smith) Brubaker.
