Daniel W. Keck, 84, of Marshall, Michigan, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on February 17, 1938 to Clifford and Emma (Henderson) Keck.
Dan attended the Runyan Country School and graduated from Marshall High School in 1956. He married Virginia Elaine (Jeffery) Keck on August 13, 1960. After attending Kellogg Community College he graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Dan worked at Carton & Container Division of Post Foods, retiring as Traffic Manager after 32 years of service.
Dan was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church where he held many volunteer positions and participated in a mission trip to Haiti. He volunteered at the Charitable Union in Battle Creek and was known as ‘Mr. Cereal Man’ at In-As-Much-House where he donated Post Cereals on a regular basis.
Dan was an avid golfer, fastidious about lawn care, a wonderful story teller, and loved his family dearly. His generosity of spirit was notable to friends and strangers alike. He will be missed by many.
Dan is survived by his wife, Elaine, of 61 years; his son, John (Kay) Keck of Battle Creek; granddaughter, Danielle (Robert) Voiles of Flushing Michigan; and great-grandsons, Isaac, Andrew, and Oliver Voiles. His sister, Kathy (Carl) Parker of Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Denny & Chris Jeffery, Janice Jeffery, and Ernie Garrett, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn (Keck) Garrett; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jerry Keck and brother-in-law, Larry Jeffery.
Services have been entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. A Celebration of Life Service in memory of Dan will be held at Marshall United Methodist Church, 721 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068 on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 11:00 am. A private committal service has been held at Oakridge Cemetery in Marshall, MI.
