Claire M. Allain was born in Detroit April 26, 1925. Second child of Denis and Emilie (Beauvais) Cloutier. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters: Rita (Cloutier) Renner, Therese (Cloutier) Smith, and her three brothers: Gerard, Eugene, and Roger Cloutier as well as her husband of 68 years, Irving "Doc" Allain and their son David Allain.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Nelson of Battle Creek, MI and Darlene (Tom) Caimotto of Livonia, MI; Grandchildren: Scott (Cheryl) Nelson, Christine (Michael) VanDenBerg, Robert Nelson, Brian (Sara) Nelson, Jill (Peter) Meister, Karen (Jean) Carson, Thomas (Stephanie) Caimotto, Danielle (Eric) Maser and Curtis (Nikki) Allain.
Great-Grandchildren: Ryan Nelson, Claire Nelson, Christopher VanDenBerg, Molly VanDenBerg, Joseph VanDenBerg, Devin Nelson, Monica Nelson, Brian Nelson, Allyson Fox, Jordan Nelson, Michelle Meister, Jessica Meister, Spencer Crutchfield, Dylan Crutchfield, Connor Crutchfield, Dominick Caimotto, Sarah Caimotto, Austin Mazurek, Samantha Maser; four Great-Great-Grandchildren, half-sister, Janet (Jim) Pietraz, and stepbrother, Paul (Isabella) Ninelist.
Claire worked many years as a cashier and bookkeeper at A&P Grocery store. Later, she worked as a collator for a printing company.
They purchased a cottage at Houghton Lake in 1968 and retired there after renovation the cottage to make it a year-round home in 1985. They spent many years enjoying the lake with Friends and family.
After her husband passed away in 2012, Claire remained in her home at Houghton Lake until a month before her passing. This was always her wish, to stay in her home. She was moved to Calhoun County Medical Care Facility to try rehab and to be closer to family.
Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. A rosary service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Friday. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 112 Capital Ave NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass. Cremation will follow after the Mass and Claire's cremated remains will be interred in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959,
