Chris E. "Bob Ed" Baker, Sr 72, of Marshall, Michigan passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, Surrounded by his family at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  

He was born on September 1, 1951, to Jake Baker and Hazel (Robinson) Amsler in Marshall, Michigan. On February 3, 1973, Bob Ed married Frances “Emily” Bates in Marshall, Michigan. 

Bob Ed was a very proud and active member of the military. He enlisted into the United States Army on October 21, 1968, and served to 1971, and from 1980 to July 1, 1998. Bob Ed is a well decorated soldier with multiple service awards and was a part of Desert Shield. Bob Ed retired as a well-respected Master Segreant for the Army National Guard and Federal Technician for the State of Michigan. 

Bob Ed loved his family and loved his grandchildren. He wanted his family to have more than him throughout his life and to be better and have everything he didn’t.  He was an avid auction attendee and was a long-time vendor at area flea markets. Bob Ed loved collecting antique coins, oil lamps and lanterns. Bob Ed loved his side by side and took it fishing and nearly everywhere he went. Other favorite things included cruising around in his old cars, especially his 1951 Studebaker and spending time with his family. 

Bob Ed is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Emily; his son, Chris (Melissa) Baker, Jr of Marshall, Michigan; his daughter, Jamie (Stanley) Baker-Herrera of Marshall, Michigan; his two sisters, Vickie (Mario) Becerra of Marshall, Michigan and Denise (Bill)  Kinney of Louisville, Kentucky; his two brothers, Armand (Lorraine) Lawrence, Jr of Grayling, Michigan and Aaron (Angela) Blowers of Noble County, Indiana; his three granddaughters, Regan Patterson, Nina Patterson and Megan (Levi) Carr; his grandson, Collin Baker; and his two Great-Grandsons, Bodie Carr and Bridger Carr. Chris was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Penny Sullivan.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm & Monday, February 12, 2024, from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, Michigan 49068.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, 12:30 pm at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes Marshall, Marshall, Michigan with Pastor Devon Shephard officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Marshall, Michigan with Military Honor Guard and Army Honors.
