Chase Mead

Chase Mead, 26, of Springport, Michigan passed away suddenly due to an accident on July 23, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Marshall, Michigan on December 31, 1996, to Jeffrey and Michele (Gibbs) Mead.

Chase graduated from Springport High School in 2015, graduated cum laude from Albion college with a biology and history degree in 2020, and he was currently a 3rd year Dental Student at University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Other accomplishments at his young age include 4H Jackson County Fair Grand Champion Pig, Certified Scuba Diver and member of Albion Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #1265.

He enjoyed life! Everything outdoors…golf, hunting, fishing, skiing, and farming. Chase loved adventure, challenges and trying new things. He liked to visit local breweries and talk to the brewer, learning about their process. He understood and retained everything he ever learned. But above all else, Chase loved hanging out with friends and family.

Chase is survived by his parents, Michele and Jeff Mead; sister, Chelsea Mead (Jordan Burdon) of Litchfield Park, AZ; grandfather, Bill Gibbs of Springport, MI; grandmother, Janette Mead of Albion, MI; aunts; uncles; and cousins; as well as many friends and colleagues.

He was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Judy Gibbs, and Rosemary Mead and grandfather, Edward Mead.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 28, 2023, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Springport Bible Church, 240 Mechanic Street, Springport, MI 49289, and Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Cousin Phil officiating. A committal service will follow at Clarence Center Cemetery, 27052 R Drive N, Clarence Twp, MI.
