Carol Anne Upston

Carol Anne Upston, 86, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at her home.  
She was born on August 13, 1937 to Clark and Marion (Dubuc) Lauzon in Burlington, Vermont. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Burlington, Vermont. Carol worked as a Laborer for Kellogg Cereal Co.
Carol first married Keith Rogers Sr. which ended in divorce and then on June 16, 1965, Carol married Marshall "Jack" Upston at Birchwood United Methodist Church in Battle Creek, sadly he passed away on December 10, 2014.
She was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star Bedford Chapter 471. Carol was a past Grand Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star of Michigan. Jack and she had visited just about every Masonic Temple in the State of Michigan, they met and became friends with many people along the way. Carol was a member of the Kellogg 25-year Club and a longtime member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church in Battle Creek. She was a fixture as a lecturer and eucharistic minister with the church. Carol loved to volunteer at the hospital gift shop and through the hospital she knitted hundreds of baby hats to give to the NICU Department. They enjoyed going to Hoxeyville in northern Michigan and they enjoyed snowmobiling up there as well. Carol bowled at Springlake Lanes in Battle Creek for many years and was very talented with ceramics, a great cook and could bake just about anything, her pies were a favorite. She was a very active lady, from being an excellent pianist and organist, to rifle shooting and water skiing, just to name a few. She also believed strongly in being a blood donor. Carol and Jack enjoyed spending winters in McAllen, Texas while also going on cruises and traveling throughout the United States. Carol will be sadly missed for her kind, gracious and loving personality by all who knew and met her.
Carol is survived by her loving children; Keith (Barbara) Rogers, Jr. of Burlington, Michigan, Kelly (Ralph) Milewsky of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Scott (Jeannie) Rogers of Battle Creek, Michigan; her stepchildren, Barbara (Jim) Barclay of Evergreen, Colorado, Dwight (Debbie) Upston of Battle Creek, Michigan and Jackie (Mike) Cummings of Northville, Michigan;  her sisters, Noreen (Liam) Murphy of Coldchester, Vermont, Jeane Lauzon of Morrisville, Vermont and Mary Paule (George) Goulet of Alburg, Vermont and her special friend, Betty Krueger of Battle Creek, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marshal J. Upston, stepson, Jim Upston and her brother Walter Lauzon.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall, Michigan 49068 with an Eastern Star Memorial Ceremony to begin at 6:30 pm.     
Funeral services for Carol will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, 11:00 am at the Kempf Family Funeral Marshall Chapel, Marshall, Michigan, with Fr. James Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha, Michigan.
