Billy Ray Orwig Sr., age 93, of Marshall, passed away in his earthly home to his heavenly home, surrounded by music and family, on Friday, January 28, 2022. He died of natural causes.

He was born May 4, 1928, in Albion, MI, to Irk R. Orwig and Mildred Farrell Orwig. He was a graduate of Albion High School, class of 1946. He attended Ferris Institute after high school. He then enlisted in the Michigan National Guard. He worked at McGraw Edison in Albion as parts and service department manager, until the plant closed. Then Bill did what he enjoyed, private indoor painting and minor repairs to several beautiful homes in Marshall. He was a member of Family Bible Church of Marshall. He belonged to Sons of the American Revolution, the Executive Club, and a former member of several service clubs in Marshall.

Bill and Rosemary celebrated seventy-one years of marriage together. They were married on October 27, 1950. They loved to travel and take their granddaughters on trips with them. He enjoyed weekly golf with his brothers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Orwig; Bill Ray (Lisa) Orwig Jr. of Wellington, FL and grandchildren, Stacy (Paul) Kathmeyer of Lighthouse Point, FL, Michelle (Ryan) Evers of Loxahatchee, FL, great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jason Evers; his daughter, Annette (Bryan) Cornwell of Marshall, MI and grandchildren, Emilie (Joseph) Amundson of Okemos, MI, great-grandchildren, Trenton and Lillian Amundson; granddaughter, Ivie (Eric) Bryant of Bloomfield Hills and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Olivia Bryant of Bloomfield Hills; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irk and Mildred Orwig; a sister, Madaline Patterson; and his brothers, Stanley, Kenneth, Melvin, Glen, and James.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. J. Schnoor, Elara Hospice, and In Home Companions, his nurses Luda, Karen, Sara, and Angie, and many supportive friends and family

No services are planned at this time.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Family Bible Church of Marshall. Arrangements were entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068.
