September 1, 1915 — May 26, 2006

Beryl E. Thick passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2006. Beryle was born September 1, 1915 in Marshall, MI to Frank and Alice Long. She lived her life in Marshall graduating from Marshall High School in 1932. She was married on September 2, 1939 to Garth S. Thick. Together they operated the Bogar Theater until retiring in 1975. Beryle also worked for State Farm Insurance Company for twenty years, retiring in 1981. Beryle was a member for over 65 years of the Marshall First Presbyterian Church. Since 1939 she had served as both an Elder and Deacon. Over the years Beryle taught Sunday school and was both a Cub Scout and Blue Bird leader, a member of Marshall Country Club, the Marshall Historical Society and served on various guilds for Oaklawn Hospital as well as delivering mobile meals and working in the gift shop. Playing bridge and giving parties for her many friends brought Beryle a great deal of enjoyment. She loved dancing and often listened to the "Big Band" sounds reminding her of the days gone by. Beryle''s family and friends were recipients of the beautiful needlework she created over the years. She also greatly enjoyed gardening, both her own and friends, and was an avid reader. Every holiday meant an opportunity to decorate for the occasion, especially Christmas. Many of the ornaments were made by Beryle and her husband Garth. Beryle was on the cover of the Community Ad-Visor and featured for her Valentine decorations. She is survived by her son William (Mary) Thick of Marshall, four grandchildren, William Thick,Jr., Kristin (Phil) Peterson, Jerry (Cheryl) Capodilupo and Ann Capodilupo; three great-grandchildren, Britney, Danielle and Alex Capodilupo; three nieces, Diane (Frank) Gunther, Bette Lee (Chano) Serbantez, and Linda Lou Thick and one nephew Robert (Julie) Thick.
