Beatrice Hamilton

Beatrice (Newsome) Hamilton, 84, of Marshall, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023 with her daughter by her side.

Beatrice was born on February 11, 1939 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Gordon L. and Molly M. (Newsome) Newsome. She worked at G.C. Murphy & Co. in Pikeville where she met her husband and transferred to G.C. Murphy & Co. in Marshall when she married. She later worked as a line manager at Progressive Dynamics in Marshall. She became a homemaker when she became a mom and according to her daughter, the best mom who ever lived. She also served as the secretary to her husband’s tax business and was an outstanding supporter in her husband’s ministry.

Beatrice attended the Little Vineyard Church of Old Regular Baptist in Eaton Rapids. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and gardening. Christmas was her favorite holiday, she especially liked to decorate for it. She loved the winter season and snow for all of its beauty. Beatrice was also an excellent cook known for her Peanut Butter Pie and Oatmeal Cake. She was a caring individual that was always putting others before herself. Beatrice had a beautiful smile that was always getting compliments.

Beatrice is survived by her husband of 59 years, Palmer Hamilton; daughter, Pamela Hamilton; and sister, Opal Newsome. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Feddie Newsome; sisters, Mollie Newsome, and Ada Marie Newsome; foster sister, Spicy McPeek. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 1-3pm at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, Michigan 49068. A funeral service will take place immediately after at 3pm with Elder Estill Hamilton officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Porter Cemetery in Convis Township.
