Barbara Dee Heckert, age 71, of Marshall died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at her home.Mrs. Heckert was born on September 18, 1935 in Bentonville, Arkansas to Charles W. and Marie M. (Schell) Crouse. On November 7, 1959, she married Wilmer Craig Heckert in Kalamazoo. Mr. Heckert preceded her in death on November 20, 1997. The couple moved to Marshall in 1961 from Kalamazoo. For a short time, Barbara had been employed by Marshall Cold Storage. She left their employment to start a family.She was a member of Family Bible Church in Marshall. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Her family remembers the many delicious bake goods that she would make for holidays and special family gathering. Barbara was a wonderful seamstress and helped to supplement her income by sewing for people in the community.She is survived by daughters, Beth Ann (Patrick) Topham of Normal, IL and Amy Lynn Heckert of Marshall; grandchildren, Kaylee and Broghan Heckert and Henry and Spencer Topham; sisters, Maxine Bushouse of Kalamazoo, Doris Shields of Wichita, KS, Kathern Morvan of Kalamazoo, Jennie Knox of Bentonville, AR and JoElla Crouse of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by sisters, Francis McCully, Norma Fisher, Meta Crouse, Loraine Randall and brother, Leon Crouse.The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 Wednesday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Family Bible Church. Memorials are to the Family Bible Church or Barbara Heckert, Grandchildren Scholarship Fund.
