Avanel "Abby" (Fletcher) Gillespie

Avanel “Abby” (Fletcher) Gillespie of Marshall, Michigan passed away on August 6, 2023 at the age of 92.

She was born in Royalton, Kentucky on November 24th, 1930. She was the daughter of Nal Fletcher and Mae (Risner) Sams.

Avanel was the president of the 25 year club and eventually retired from Kraft Post Cereals.

During her life she enjoyed winter vacations in Florida, traveling, fishing, crocheting, and participating in fashion shows while in Florida.

Avanel is survived by her children, Connie (Carl) Garvison, Susan (Calvin Pomeroy) Raymond, and Patrick (Genny) Gillespie; brother, Russell (Patsy) Sams; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Richard Sams; her husband, Dean Gillespie; son, Joseph Gillespie; sisters, Marcella Jansen and Joyce Eastman; brother, Eugene Fletcher; and great granddaughter, Marista Smith-Long.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held.
