Alan M Cornwell, 87, of MarshalI, co-owner and operator of Cornwell's Turkeyville for many years, passed away on June 20, 2021 at The Villa of Winston Court.
He was born on April 26, 1934 in Battle Creek to parents Wayne E. and Marjorie M. (Hawkins) Cornwell.
Alan has lived on what was originally his mother's family farm, the Hawkins Farm, the majority of his life. He grew up there attending Marshall Public Schools and graduated with the Marshall High School Class of 1953. He helped his father and brothers on the farm which became Cornwell's Turkeyville USA in 1968.
Alan married the love of his life Joellyn M. Jackson on Dec. 12, 1953 at Convis Union United Methodist Church. They have enjoyed a fruitful and loving partnership of 67 years, raising their family and working together on the same farm Alan grew up on.
Alan was employed at the Kellogg Company from 1953 until 1968 when Cornwell's Turkeyville USA was founded by his parents and he and Joellyn. Turkeyville grew by leaps and bounds. Wayne would think of something and Alan would build it! He loved his work and the people he worked with and met. He was an active co-owner and co-operator of Turkeyville until his health finally did not allow him to help around the grounds where he was a familiar sight in his golf cart.
Alan was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was formerly an active member of the Marshall Ducks Unlimited Chapter and a past member of the National Turkey Federation.
Alan is survived by his wife Joellyn; their children Brent (Jo Ellen) Cornwell of Marshall, Vicki (Lyn) Hankey of Marshall, Bryan (Annette) Cornwell of Marshall, and Blain (Patti) Cornwell of Marshall; 9 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Terry Cornwell, Ronald Cornwell and Randy Cornwell.
