Agnes Marie (Woods) Bramble

Agnes Marie Bramble, age 86, of Marshall died Wednesday October 27, 2021 at BestCare East Adult Foster Care Home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Bramble was born on February 1, 1935, at home in Lee Township to Joseph and Inez Marie (Kintz) Woods.  She was a lifelong resident of this area and was a graduate of Marshall High School, class of 1952.   She continued her education attending Mercy College of Nursing, where she received her nursing degree.  Agnes began her nursing career employed by Oaklawn Hospital.  She then began a long and successful career working for Dr. Frank Burris.  She retired in 1997, after 27 years of dedicated service.

On April 30, 1955, she married Joseph Walter Bramble at St. Mary Catholic Church.  Together the couple had seven children and celebrated 64 years of marriage.   He preceded her in death on January 12, 2019.

Mrs. Bramble was a long and faithful member of the St. Mary Catholic Church. In the 1990’s, Agnes and Joe traveled to Honduras to participate in a Missionary trip.  She served her community as the Deputy Supervisor of Convis Township for twelve years.  She also volunteered her time with the Marshall Fountain Clinic, the American Red Cross and as a 4H club leader.  Agnes was an avid reader and enjoyed carving wooden birds.  Fall was her favorite time of year and she enjoyed sitting on the deck and bon fires in the woods at the family shack.

She is survived by children, Julia (Scott) Schafer, Joan (James) Whitehead, James (Mandy) Bramble, Jean (Don) Stavale, Janice (Karl) Sievertsen and Joyce (Wayne) Irish; and daughter-in-law, Kathe Bramble of Marshall; 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by older brother, Paul (Donna) Woods “gotcha”, and sisters, Ann (Ken) Andrews and Kathleen Faurot; and brother and sister-in law, Robert and Pansy Bramble; brother-in-law, Fritz Cerny and sister-in-law, Bernice Woods; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Bramble; and brothers and sisters, Peter Woods, Alice Cerny, Leo Woods, John Woods.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday.  A funeral Mass to celebrate the gift of her life will be held 11:00 am Friday, November 5, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marshall.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
