Michael Dudley Cassens, age 75, of Battle Creek passed away July 14, 2018 at his residence. Michael was born September 21, 1942 in Battle Creek to George and Ruby (Dilley) Cassens.
He graduated from BCHS with the class of 1960. That same year Michael enlisted into the United States Navy. He boarded the U.S.S. Forrestal ship and it departed the U.S. in August of 1962, sailing the Mediterranean Sea and returning in March of 1963. Michael served our country until his honorable discharge in 1965.
After his military career, Michael worked as an Electrician for the General Motors Company. He worked for the company for over twenty years, retiring in 2005.
Michael enjoyed playing pool and poker. He loved food and going out to eat. Michael liked watching Wrestling and Monster Mayhem Trucks with his great-grandson. He also enjoyed western movies and rock and roll music. In his younger years, Michael enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Michael is survived by his children, Theresa (Patrick) Morris of Battle Creek, James (Victoria) Etherton of Lansing, Cheri (Wade) Cuff of FL, and Teri Leggitt of Albion; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Doug Cassens of FL, and Gordon Cassens of TX; and special friend, Lois Lankard of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruby Cassens, and wife, Mary (Vied) Cassens.
Visitation will be held on Friday July 20, 2018 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 SW Capital Ave., Battle Creek Chapel from 11am-1pm. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 1pm. Burial of ashes will take place at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
