Obituary

James "Jim" George Damon, age 80, of Burlington passed away September 4, 2018 at The Oaks at Northpointe Woods in Battle Creek.

Jim was born on March 2, 1938 in Climax to George August and Ruth (Smith) Damon. He graduated from Marshall Public Schools with the class of 1954. Jim married MeryLou Mohrhardt at Newton Township Methodist Church in October of 1966 . They had one child and shared 52 loving years together.
Jim was a farmer all his life, raising both crops and livestock. He retired his long farming career in 2003.

Jim enjoyed working, gardening, and tending to his animals. He and MeryLou loved traveling after retirement, and visiting the casino.

Jim is survived by his wife, MeryLou Damon of Burlington; sister, Darlene "Dolly" (Terry) Scheick of Reynoldsburg, OH; nieces, Marita Scheick of Whitehall, OH, and Dianne (Wilson) Peters of Whittier, CA; and nephew, Glen Scheick of Reynoldsburg, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Damon; son, Timothy James Damon; and sister, Barbara Wilson.

Visitation will be held at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 Old US 27 North, Marshall Chapel on Tuesday September 11, 2018 from 10-11AM. A memorial service will follow the visitation starting at 11AM with Reverend James Codde officiating. Jim will be laid to rest in Newton Township Cemetery at a later time.
