Harriet L. Burlingame, age 96, of Marshall passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Marshall on July 30, 1922, the daughter of Walter and Sarah (Mills) Bugden. Harriet was a Marshall High School graduate. After high school she attended Cleary College. On February 6, 1944 Harriet married the love of her life, Robert Burlingame. Together they had 3 children.
She enjoyed traveling, visiting every State in the United States with the exception of Hawaii and every Providence of Canada except the Northwest Territory. Harriet also enjoyed camping and farming with her husband. She was an avid Tiger's Baseball Fan, spent time sewing, knitting and stamping cards. More than anything she loved to spend time with family and watch her children and grandchildren play sports. Harriet was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church, Kellogg's 25 Year Club, a former member of 256 Rainbow Chasers Camping Club, TOPS, and Progressive Farmers.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Jim) Wygant of Battle Creek, MI, Carlene (Vern) Kimerer, Sheila Burlingame-Smith both of Marshall; 9 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Knapp; several nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert and her parents.
Family will receive friends at the Kempf Funeral & Cremation Service, Marshall on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-800pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 10:00am with Pastor Tim Wygant officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the ALS Association or Charity of One's Choice.
