Alice Jessie Shiarla, age 95, of Battle Creek and formerly of Elizabethtown, KY passed away February 21, 2019 at Advantage Living Center of Battle Creek.
Alice was born of June 20, 1923 in Coldwater, MI to Walter A. and Bertha (Kyser) Woodard.
Alice married William Harold Shiarla Sr. May 27, 1941. They had 4 children and shared 40 loving years together until William's passing on March 26, 1981.
Alice worked as a housekeeper. She cleaned homes for many battle creek families.
Alice loved to sing, read her bible, and pray. She loved spending time with her children, and her dog.
Alice is survived by her sons, William (Nancy) Shiarla Jr. of Battle Creek, and Sam (Judy) Shiarla of Bangor, Maine; granddaughter, Tina Marie Yoho; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bertha; son, David Shiarla; daughter, Caroline Shiarla; 6 sisters; and 4 brothers.
Visitation will be held at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 SW Capital Avenue, Battle Creek Chapel on Tuesday February 26, 2019 from 10-11am. A funeral service will follow the visitation, at 11am with Reverend Tracy Scott officiating. Alice will be laid to rest in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
