Abigail "Abby" Bedient

July 30, 1982 — April 25, 2023

Marshall

Abigail Marie Bedient, 40, died April 25, 2023, in Miami, Florida.

She was born in Marshall, Michigan and graduated from Marshall High School. She went on to earn bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Miami (Florida).

While at Miami, she was a member/leader of the dance team The Hurricanettes. She was also an athletic trainer for various university sports teams, including football. With the football team she worked bowl games for four years, including a national championship game in 2002.

Abby was a self-starter, doing many things including teaching, voice-overs for commercials and videos, and other audio and visual work, including a small part in a movie.

She placed importance on a healthy lifestyle, including eating as a vegan. She ran in the Pittsburgh Marathon while in high school.

Abby was outrageously funny. She had the ability to make people laugh just by her facial expressions, or her own laugh. She did voices.

Abby loved fearlessly. She loved James with all of her heart. She loved her friends.  She loved her family. Abby loved all living things.  Just try to go on the boat two miles faster than wake speed when there were manatees in the water - she was not having it! She loved Duck Lake, the ocean and salt water. On a boat or dock she languished like a cat, enjoying the late afternoon sun.

Abby was so loved and supported by all who had the privilege of being her friend. She was an empath to the max. Humble yet outspoken. She always defended the underdog. Abby was one of a kind.

Abby placed much value on family and was especially fond of her maternal and paternal grandparents. It was because of them that her dissertation focused on geriatric issues.

She is survived by her parents John and Suzanne Bedient of Duck Lake, Michigan, a sister, Sarah (Michael) Wasielewski of Marshall and her nieces Cooper and Blaire. She is also survived by her partner of more than twenty years, James Palmer, Miami, formerly of Rochester, Michigan. She was loved by aunts and uncles, Paul (Carol) Bedient, Grand Haven, Michigan. Mike (Karen) Hill, Nanette (Joe) Hibler all of Duck Lake, Michigan, and Rik Hill, Wesley Chapel, Florida, and many cousins in Michigan and Florida.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
