Juelene Bailey

August 2, 1945 — August 2, 2006

Juelene Bailey, age 61, of Lee Township, Marshall, died at her home in the loving care of her family on Wednesday, August 2, 2006. Juelene was born Oct. 7, 1944 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Winford and Anna Mae (Webb) Slone. She came to the Lee Township, Olivet and Springport area as a child with her family, and has lived there since. She was married on Oct. 15, 1962 in Springport to John W. Bailey. Juelene worked as a nurse''s aide for many years at Marshall Manor, Visiting Nurse Service, and Oaklawn Hospital. She worked at Oaklawn Hospital for 14 years, where she was also an Emergency Room Tech, until her retirement in the mid-1990''s. She returned to finish High School at Olivet High School''s Adult Education Program, and was awarded her diploma in 1983. Juelene graduated at the top of her class. Julene loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She liked to watch movies at home, and liked to spend time on her porch. Her family enjoyed the benefit of her natural good humor, and will miss her laugh. She enjoyed good natured teasing of those she loved, and always seemed to find the humor in things. Her children remember trips to the beach with her when they were growing up, and how she loved her garden. No one in the family was to pick that first tomato when it was ready except for Juelene. After that first one, all others were fair game! Surviving are her husband, John; daughter, Janice Sue Bailey of Marshall, 3 sons, Johnny Jr. (Elizabeth) Bailey and Thomas (Barb) Bailey all of Olivet, and Donnie (Lisa) Bailey of Marshall; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; her mother, Anna Mae Slone of Springport, her surviving triplet sister, Sherrl (Terry) Holibaugh of Coldwater, Tina Slone, Sue Slone, and Nancy Slone all of Phoenix, AZ; Wanda Wentworth of Tampa, FL, and Ethel Reynolds of Athens; 2 brothers Gilbert Slone of Phoenix, AZ and Wilbert Slone of Charlotte; many nieces and nephews. Juelene was preceded in death by a step-daughter Carrie Stanton, her father Winford Slone, sister Evelyn Slone, triplet sister Alene Slone (who preceded at the age of 2 and ½ years), and brother Terry Slone as an infant.
