John H."Jack" Nowicke age 81 of Barefoot Bay, FL passed away on February 2, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.He was born on July 19, 1934 a son of Edward and Alice (Renowden) Nowicke in Detroit. Jack graduated from Highland Park High School. He served in the US. Army as a member of the first Radiological Safety Unit and was part of Operations Plumbbob and Hardtack in 1957 and 1958. On September 19, 1959 he married the love of his life Gertrude "Trudy" Warner. Together they spent 43 wonderful years she preceded him in death on June 27, 2002.He worked for Eaton Corp as a Senior Technician where he worked on various projects such as CTIS where he had a patent for a filtering device for a central tire inflation system He retired in 1995 after 34 years Jack enjoyed taking his wife to casinos and "Out to Dinner" Tennessee for ribs, Maine for lobster, working on cars, and watching the news.Surviving Jack are his children, Nancy (Ray) Greenman of Lebanon, MO, Kristine Walker of Barefoot Bay, FL, John (Wendy) Nowicke of Eagle, MI, Debra (Robert) O'Brien of Barefoot Bay, FL, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother, Richard Nowicke of Rochester Hills, MI, and 2 nephews and 1 niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Trudy, children, Howard, Louise, and Kathrine.Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday February 9, 2016 from 2-4PM and 6-8 PM at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel 723 Old US 27 N Marshall, MI 49068. A funeral celebrating the life of Jack will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday February 10, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. James Codde officiating. Interment will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Calhoun County Animal Center or to a no kill shelter of ones choice.
