Ezra Shepherd, 74, of Litchfield, died on November 19, 2014 at his home.Mr Shepherd was born on June 12, 1940 in Floyd County, Kentucky to Joe and Mary Jane (Reffitt) Shepherd. On December 23, 1959 he married Magdalene Ratliff in Kentucky. Their marriage ended in divorce.Mr Shepherd worked as a Coal Miner in Kentucky before moving to Michigan, after which time he worked at McGraw -Edison in Albion for 15 years, then retired to open used furniture stores in Litchfield and Albion. He also was a musician playing in several bands with his brothers, and raced cars at a local track for several years. Mr Shepherd enjoyed a life long passion for music, and could always be found tinkering with his numerous computers, music equipment and electronics he had acquired.He is survived by his children, Ricky Shepherd of Marshall, Sherry (Jim) Maurer of Coldwater, Randy (Annette Newsome) Shepherd of Homer. Nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Isola Prater of Litchfield, Mae Watkins of Burlington, Fred Shepherd of Albion, Colleen March, Earl Shepherd, Teresa Vest, and Faye Woodman all of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Estelle Shepherd, and sister Vicki Sneed.Visitation will take place at the Craig K Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Homer Chapel, 303 South Hillsdale Street on Monday November 24th, 2014 from 10-11am with a funeral service taking place at11am with Pastor Jim Snyder officiating. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Homer. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
