William "Bill" David Bramble

November 17, 1955 — July 12, 2020

On July 12th Bill came to the end of his eight year battle with multiple myeloma. Bill was born on November 17, 1955 in Marshall to Joseph W. and Agnes M. (Woods) Bramble.  Bill was a lifelong resident of Marshall and was a member of the last class to attend St. Mary Elementary School.  He was a graduate of Marshall High School, class of 1974.  He continued his education, receiving his MBA from Western Michigan University.  Bill had been employed by the Eaton Corporation in Marshall for 31 years.  Over the years there he held many different job titles and retired as Campus Manager of the Marshall and Southfield locations in 2016.
On August 18th, 1990, he married the former Kathleen Patricia Martin.

Bill was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th degree knight. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed working with his Wood-Mizer sawmill.  He built his own solar wood kiln and produced custom cut boards of all species.  He also built custom wood furniture. Bill enjoyed skiing and took many special trips with his dad and family.

Bill could always be found working in his barn and carried with him the smell of exhaust and old cars.  He enjoyed restoring old International Scout vehicles  and Oliver tractors.
Bill’s other passions were studying history and the politics of the day, and he was a regular Red Cross blood donor. Bill was a member of the Eaton Golf League, playing in Marshall with his friend Ed Bojas.

He is remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  He was lovingly referred to as “the boss of the bosses” in his household.  Bill was well known for his iconic red handlebar mustache.  He loved animals and shared his home with his beloved rescue dogs, Libby and Finn.

He is survived by his wife, Kathe; children, Matthew (Murray Bartlett) Bramble, Nathan (Kate) Stewart, Jenny (Phil) Galloway, Heidi (Ben) Slager, and Ian ( Erin Skidmore) Stewart; and 10 grandchildren, Noah, Caleb, Liam, Adelaide, Norah, Hendrik, Michael, Emma, Joseph and Grace.

He is also survived by his mother, Agnes M. Bramble; and loving siblings, Julia (F. Scott) Schafer of Marshall, Joan (James) Whitehead of Dexter, Jean (Don) Stavale of Hastings, Janice (Karl) Sievertsen of Marshall and Joyce (Wayne) Irish of Marshall; brother, Jim (Mandy) Bramble of Tucson, AZ; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Bramble in 2019.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a private funeral Mass will be held for the immediate family only. The service will be available to view on the St. Mary Catholic Church Facebook page at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020.

A public celebration of life gathering will be held in 2021.
