William Goyman

William Goyman, 90, of Olivet, (long time Marshall resident) passed away on December 30, 2021, at home surrounded by family and loved ones.

William was born on October 13, 1931, in Broad Valley, Manitoba, Canada to Joseph and Pauline (Malinowska) Goyman. William worked as a Universal Engineer for most of his working career and was Chief Engineering Officer at Stouffer Hotels in Battle Creek when he retired. He was united in marriage with Mary (Collier) Goyman for 66 years prior to her passing, Mary Goyman passed March 10, 2020, in Sun City Az.

William had many hobbies from hunting for pheasant, quail and deer, fishing of any kind, woodworking, golfing, bowling, creating stained glass and even attempted tattooing though only one of the kids were brave enough to let him trial his skills.

He served proudly in the Canadian Navy and was involved in the Korean War conflict, also a member of the Masonic Order and of the Moose Lodge in Marshall before retiring and moving to Sun City AZ. He volunteered with the United Way and was a blood donor with the American Red Cross.

William is survived by his children, Wendy (Rich) Lyon, John Goyman, David Goyman and Betty (Fred) Perkins; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Jeff) Roberts, Tyler Goyman, Mary Ewing, Andrew (Noa) Lyon, Erik (Naomi) Lyon, Evan Perkins, Julia Perkins, Jesse (Arren) Perkins; fifteen great-grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Eckhardt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Goyman; his parents, Joseph and Pauline Goyman; and his son, Edward Goyman.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in Oakridge Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, to intern both William and Mary Goyman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The American Red Cross.
