Thomas L Ceran

May 8, 1938 — March 12, 2019

Thomas L. Ceran, 80, of Marshall formerly of Charlevoix, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 12, 2019.
Tom was born on May 8, 1938 in Detroit. He was a 1958 graduate of Mackenzie High School where he met Carol Clark his wife of 59 years. Right after graduation he entered the United States Navy and served for eight years before he was honorably discharged.
After his time in the service, Tom and Carol lived in Redford Township, where Tom sold Pioneer stereo equipment throughout the state. He used those sales skills as the owner of McClellan Home Furnishings and later in life at Pumco Interiors in Petoskey. Tom was a member of the Charlevoix Rotary Club and served as president for one year.
In his retirement, Tom liked to spend time on the water and like a good Navy man, he served as the Harbor Master and sailing instructor at the Belvedere Club in Charlevoix for many years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Carol of Marshall; a brother Jay (Marge) Ceran of West Lake Village, California, daughters, LeAnn (Bob Carter) Ceran of West Liberty, Ohio and Linda (John) Prescott of Bellevue. Tom always enjoyed keeping track of his six granddaughters, and took them on many rides in the wagon behind his tractor to the secret pond. They have many great memories of their "surprise" adventures and special times spent with their grandpa. These six granddaughters gave him nine wonderful great-grandchildren.
The family will be holding a celebration of Tom's life later in the year in Charlevoix. Memorial contributions in Tom's memory may be made to the American Kidney Fund (www.kidneyfund.org). Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
