Thomas B. Hopkins

Thomas Benjamin Hopkins, 69, of Milan, TN passed away on April 19, 2021. He was born in Marshall, MI to parents Carroll and Alice Hopkins.

After graduating high school in Memphis, TN, Thomas served his country in the United States Army for three years during the Vietnam War, where he focused on radar and sonar tracking. He went on to study computer hardware and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Thomas then undertook a career in marketing at Texas Instruments and Hewlett Packard, where he served various military contracts and major clients. Beyond this, he was also an entrepreneur, starting three businesses of his own. Thomas loved solitary time for reflection, great American landscapes, and the open road, and he found delight in long-distance truck driving for several years prior to retirement.

Thomas is survived by his daughters, Patricia Hopkins and Lindsey Hopkins; their mother, Dana Hopkins; and his siblings: Alicia Kotsch, Sandra Koonce, John (Glenda) Hopkins, Ronald (Donna) Hopkins, and Donald (Sue) Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Alice Hopkins.

A gathering will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. A private graveside service at Oakridge Cemetery in Marshall and a reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan at https://hsscm.org .
