Sue Ann Schnaitman, 73, of Marshall died on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo following a long illness.
Sue was born on October 2, 1946 in Marshall to Jack and Mary Ann (Page) Schnaitman. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1964. On April 18, 2020 she married her companion of over 20 years John Mason in Marshall.
Sue started working in the restaurant business when she was young for her father, Jack, at his restaurant the Fireside Inn in Marshall. She later would go into business for herself owning Mancino’s Pizza and Grinders of Battle Creek in 1987. Sue sold the restaurant to her daughter and son-in-law in 2005. In 2007, she bought The Stagecoach Inn in Marshall where she loved to visit with friends and patrons. She was member of Saint Mary Catholic Church, and she attended Saint Mary Catholic School until High School. Sue was an avid shopper and enjoyed shopping for shoes. Being the only girl of seven children, Sue loved being the host of the whole family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband John Mason; children, Tyler (Lisa) Avery and Kelly (Dan) Frever; grandchildren, Mitchell Avery, Audrey Myers, Halley Frever, Natalie Frever, and Aaron Ivey; siblings, Jim (Dina) Schnaitman, Dan (Sue) Schnaitman, Jon (Sharon) Schnaitman, Bob (Javene) Schnaitman, Eric (Benêt) Schnaitman; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Tom Schnaitman; and a nephew Kyle Schnaitman.
Family will gather with friends from 4-7pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 Old US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Funeral services will take place at 1pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 Old US Hwy 27 North Marshall MI 49068.
