Stanley Allan Sinke, age 73, of Marshall died early Sunday morning, January 26, 2020 at his home in the loving care of his family.
Stan was born on January 22, 1947 in Portage, Michigan to Anthony and Evangeline (Kessler) Sinke. Stan was a graduate of the Portage Northern High School, class of 1965. He continued his education taking college courses and eventually ended up working for the Calhoun County Road Commission, working as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He served the community for 30 years and retired in 2010.
In December of 1974, he married the former Juanita Ann Guthrie. The couple’s marriage ended in divorce. On May 11, 1991, he married the former Sandra Maureen (Drake) Boyd in Marshall.
Stan loved motor sports and was part owner and mechanic of a race car. He always followed NASCAR. His weekends always included watching racing on the television and holding race parties. He never missed watching the Daytona 500 or the Indianapolis 500. While planning vacations, his trips often included visiting racetracks around the country. Dale Earnhardt was his favorite driver and dedicated a full room in his home to display all his racing memorabilia.
He also enjoyed collecting Winchester memorabilia. He would travel to antique stores, flea markets and yard sales in search of anything with the Winchester name on it. His collection which is considerable included everything from flashlights to a rotary lawn mower.
Stan is remembered by his family as a man that was greatly loved. He had a great sense humor and had to ability to make fun of any situation and tease those he loved. He was a great influence and served as a mentor to his children and their friends. Stan was always in the company of his large group of friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons, Tony Sinke of Ft. Morgan, CO and Scott Sinke of Monroe, Michigan; step-daughters, Leslie M. (Matt) Conway of Carson City, Nevada and Cheryl Lynn (Ted) Vakerics of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah, Grace, Alex, Melissa and Henry; and a sister, Jean Hutt of Holland, Michigan.
Stan said that he wanted a party, so the family is planning a Celebration of Life Gathering to be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US 27 N. Marshall, MI 49068 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Family Bible Church, 14995 US 27 North, Marshall, Michigan. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
