Shirley Jean Winchell, age 85, of Homer, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born in Homer, Michigan on October 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Kreger) Radee. She was a graduate of Homer High School, class of 1955. She was united in marriage with Elden Charles Winchell on November 30, 1957. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Homer, where she was involved with the Etta Prentiss Circle and sang in the choir. She worked as a bookkeeper and retired after twenty years of service from Lonny’s Super Value grocery store. She volunteered for Homer Caring and Sharing for many years. She enjoyed reading, bunco, her exercise classes, and having lunch with her classmates. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being a “benchwarmer” at school sporting events. She was a caring, loving, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her biggest enjoyment and what she was most proud of was her family!
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of sixty-five, Elden Charles Winchell; children, Doran (Tammy) Winchell, Kelly (fiancé, Jeff Johnston) Renfroe, Brent (Cindi) Winchell, and Aaron Winchell; grandchildren, Kody (Heather) Renfroe, Brock (Chelsea) Winchell, Kyrie (Chris) Hernandez, Cheyenne (Cameron) Barrett, Paige (Dale) Cornstubble, Devan Winchell, Wyatt Winchell; great-grandchildren, Blake, Tessa, and Avery Renfroe, Kneco, Chris, and Rae Hernandez, Finley Barrett, Piper and Sawyer Cornstubble; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Kevin Renfroe; sisters, Marjorie Wellington and Arlene Rose, and brothers, Wayne Radee, and Harry Radee.
Shirley would like to be remembered as just a good ordinary person that did just the best that she could. She always hoped everything worked out for everyone.
