Roger Gerald Bennett, 76, of Battle Creek, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at his residence in Battle Creek surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 7, 1943 in Battle Creek to Charles and Edna (Green) Bennett.

He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device and the Purple Heart.
Roger met Susan Williston on a blind date and they were married on October 31, 1964. The family's favorite story happened on that blind date. While sitting in the car, Roger hit Sue on the knee with an ice scraper. When Sue asked him why he did that he simply replied, "I was trying to break the ice."
He started his working career in Drafting at Clark Equipment Co. in Battle Creek, went to work at Motor
Shop Electrical in Battle Creek as an Electrician and retired from Post Cereal Co. as a maintenance supervisor in 1999.
Roger was a lion-hearted guy who worked hard to protect and provide for his family. He made those he loved a priority. Roger was dependable, trustworthy and a man of his word. Roger was a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church and IBEW Local 445. He was an avid sportsman - hunting, fishing, golfing, water skiing, and bowling were his favorites. He enjoyed playing games and always played to win. Roger was very talented at fixing things and doing projects around the house and he was always willing to help family and friends.
He will be missed for his quick wit and ability to make people laugh.
