Rodney Loyd Haynie

Rodney Loyd Haynie,75, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Medi Lodge in Marshall.

Rodney was born on February 16, 1945 to William Eugene and Clarice (Bevels) Haynie in Lubbock, Texas. He married Mary Miller on June 9, 1976 in Chico, California. After graduating from high school, he enlisted into the United States Navy on February 23, 1964 and was honorably discharged on February 23, 1968 attaining the rank of CMACN. Rodney received the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Stars, the Fleet Marine Force Combat Insignia, the Vietnam Campaign Medal (with device 1960) and the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a long- haul truck driver with various trucking companies for 50 years, retiring in 2006. Rodney enjoyed playing lead and rhythm guitar, playing cards, watching television and fishing. He loved all animals and watching sports. His favorite teams were the Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Forty Niners and the Dallas Cowboys.

Rodney is survived by his wife Mary; his children, Kenny (Rose) Haynie of Palmdale, California, David Haynie of Palmdale, California, Robert (Carrie) Haynie of Simi Valley, California and Jodie Mulkey of Coldwater; his stepchildren; Marilyn J. Brooks of Spokane, Washington, Viola Taylor of Spokane, Washington, Angel B. Miller of S. Carolina and Stanley Lee Mason of Kansas City, Missouri; his 29 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
