Robert "Bob" Walter Heidenreich, DDS, 90, of Marshall, Michigan, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 26, 1932 to Walter and Margaret (Gladstone) Heidenreich in Marshall, Michigan. On December 28, 1957, Bob married Judy Dingman in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1950 and enrolled at Western Michigan University in the fall of 1950 in the pre-dental curriculum. Bob entered the United States Navy on July 1, 1952 in Marshall, Michigan and was honorably discharged on February 16, 1955 in Great Lakes, Illinois, attaining the rank of DN. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

He was accepted into the University of Michigan upon his honorable discharge from the Navy and he received his Doctor of Dentistry in 1959. Bob joined his father's practice in 1959 at 105 East Green St. in Marshall, Michigan and in 1992, he went on board with his son David's private dental practice in Marshall. Bob worked until 2020 and was dearly loved by all of his patients. His last 10 years of work revolved around the Senior Millage Program through the Fountain Clinic in Marshall, predominately making, adjusting and fitting dentures. One of his unique stories was being called by Schuler's Restaurant one day to help fix a visiting customer's broken tooth, that customer was Jesse Owens.

Bob was a sports enthusiast, University of Michigan, Detroit Tigers was among his favorites, but he was especially passionate about watching and coaching his children and grandchildren. Bob was very proud to support the Marshall sports programs, school and the community.

He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, playing the piano, farm tractors, collecting and running model trains. Bob and Judy made many trips to New York and other cities to attend Broadway Musicals. In the early 1970's, he obtained his pilot's license. This interest of airplanes would frequently find him taking the family to airports to watch airplanes taking off and landing. He would go golfing with his friends Joe and Ron. He loved reading maps old and new alike and learning about the geography of different places, mainly Michigan. Bob and Judy loved going to their cabin on Lake Charlevoix.

Bob was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, of which his grandfather Christopher Heidenreich was Pastor from 1900 until 1950 and the Michigan Dental Association.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Judy, his children; David (Annmarie) Heidenreich of Marshall, Tammy (Todd) Ryan of Hillsdale and Amy (Jay Dunne) Heidenreich of Darien, Connecticut, his brother; Jim (Gracia) Heidenreich of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall, Michigan 49068.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022, 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church of Marshall, Michigan, with Reverend Anthony Voltattorni, officiating. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am prior to the funeral service at the church.

Burial will take place at Oakridge Cemetery in Marshall.
