Robert "Bob" W. Frahm

Robert “Bob” Wheeler Frahm, longtime Albion resident and business owner, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 in Ft. Myers, Florida at the age of 91.

He was born in Parma to Albert and Marian (Wheeler) Frahm. After graduating in 1947 from Parma Union High School he worked many years at Ogle Brothers Chevrolet in Spring Arbor starting after school work of washing and greasing cars to General Manager many years later. He worked a short time in sales for Art Moehn Chevrolet in Jackson and then purchased and owned his own dealership, Bob Frahm Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac in Albion from August 1966 until his retirement in July 2008.

Bob had attended many courses through General Motors and graduated from General Motors Chevrolet School of Modern Merchandising and Management. He was the Past President of the Michigan Automobile Dealership Association in 1988, member of the Duck Lake Country Club, Kelley Greens Golf and Country Club in Ft. Myers, Florida, Albion Rotary Club, Albion Kiwanis Club, Albion Elks Lodge #1006, Albion Chamber of Commerce, Albion Civic Foundation, Albion Silent Observer Program and was a volunteer Fireman with the Spring Arbor Fire Department. Bob was on the Board of Directors at Chemical Bank in Albion for over 20 years.

He was a longtime supporter of Albion College and Michigan State University with donations of cars over the years and was involved with the Albion College Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management.

Bob was awarded the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award in 1993 and was named the 2008 Grand Marshall of the 42nd Festival of the Forks in Albion.

Bob was a dedicated Michigan State Football and basketball fan, he loved dogs, golfing, mowing his lawn, cutting wood and his John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed reading and being at the Albion country house, the Clarklake cottage or wintering in Ft. Myers, Florida. Bob will be fondly remembered for his big sense of humor.

Bob is survived by his wife Judy who he married on October 13, 1995 in Albion, his daughters; Suzette (David) Hohendorf of Birmingham and Teresa (Michael) McKay of Clarklake, his stepson; Troy (Carly) VanSchoick of DeWitt, his grandchildren; Nicole McKay, Garrett (Annie) Hohendorf, Stephanie (Steve) Niezgoda, Austen Hohendorf and Adam McKay, his great grandchildren; Alyssa Sambrato, Vincent Sambrato, Olivia Niezgoda and Finley Niezgoda, his brother; William Frahm of Jackson, his special nephew; Robert Mangus, his brother in law, Larry Selask and sister in law, Bonnie Hulce. He was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley in May 1992, his parents, and his sisters, Helen Boyer and Margaret McKee.

Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US HWY 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Concord.
