Robert Gerald Winchell, 82, of Homer, MI passed away on May 07, 2021 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson, MI. Robert was born on June 12, 1938 in Albion, MI to parents Glenn Winchell and Marie (Pittelkow) Winchell-Larder.
Robert graduated from Homer High School, class of 1957. He retired from Eaton Manufacturing in 2000. He was known for living life to the fullest. He enjoyed traveling, making many trips out west to Las Vegas. He also enjoyed visiting Florida. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. Robert was a skilled carpenter and designer, building and remodeling many projects with family and friends. He built his own swimming pool and enjoyed the garden he planted surrounding the pool in the yard. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Hazel "Irene" Winchell (Meade). They were united in marriage on August 12, 1960. Left to cherish his memory are their children, Steven (Pamela) Winchell, Scott (JoLynn) Winchell; grandchildren, Karrissa (Josh) Gorciak, Kyle (Hannah) Winchell, Rachele Winchell, Ryan Winchell, Torey (Cavan) Winchell; siblings, Eldon (Shirley) Winchell, Marjean (Andy) Sikkema, Rosemarie Butler, Vance Larder, Sherry (Howard) Trader, Sharon (Jeff) Kreger. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Winchell; his mother, Marie Winchell-Larder; his step-father, Robert Larder; and his brother-in-law, David Butler.
Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Homer Township. A memorial gathering will be held later.
