Robert J. Summerfield, 81 of Marshall died on Friday April 30, 2021 at Bronson Battle Creek following a short illness.
Robert was born on May 23, 1939 in Marshall to Robert and Laura (Walkinhood) Summerfield. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1958. While in high school, he was the pitcher on the state championship team. He even had a try out for the Detroit Tigers Baseball team. On June 20, 1959 he married Jacquline A. Dickinson at the Marshall Baptist Church.
Robert retired from the Eaton's Foundry after working 30 years. After his retirement, he went to United Steel and Wire in Battle Creek until 2004. Robert was a member of the Wattles Park Men's for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman going hunting and fishing. Robert enjoyed doing all types of hobbies and enjoyed doing anything outside.
He is survived by his wife Jacquline; two sons; Robert Clark (Kathryn Simpson) Summerfield and Myron Lamarr (Deedee Huerta) Summerfield; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren sister Marsha Shepherd and Mary Holnagel; special nieces and nephews Harold Jarvis and Lori Jarvis, and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
A private graveside service will take place at Oakridge Cemetery.
