Richard Albert Butler

May 19, 1932 — June 1, 2021

Richard Albert Butler "Dick", 89, of Marshall, MI passed away on June 01, 2021, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. Dick was born on May 19, 1932, in Eaton Rapids, MI to parents Roland and Bessie B. (Williams) Butler.

Dick proudly served in the National Guard Reserves for three years, then married the love of his life Marie R. (Farmer) Butler on September 25, 1954. He worked as a Printing Press Operator retiring after forty years from Michigan Carton Corporation formerly known as St. Regis Paper Company. After retirement, just for fun, Dick worked for Mix Hardware in Battle Creek.

From childhood on, Dick enjoyed both horses and boating. He truly enjoyed the outdoors in every way; feeding birds, squirrels, rabbits, and deer but especially loved his dogs. Dick also enjoyed his rose bushes and tomato plants, his garage and loved every minute he could get on his riding lawn mower. Above all else though, he dearly loved and treasured his family!

Dick is survived by his wife, Marie Butler; children, Jerrilynn Butler, Brian Butler, and Denise Wilson (Michael); grandsons, Phillip McPeters and Trevor Wilson; sister, Eva Myrick. He was preceded in death by parents; sister, Nancy Gooldy; and son Brian's lifelong companion, Carol Russell.

A graveside service will be held at West Eckford Cemetery in Eckford Township on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 1:00pm, with Jacob Washburn officiating. Memorial contributions are requested to Humane Society of South Central Michigan at https://hsscm.org.
