Randy L. Loyer

Randy Loyer, 60, of Olivet, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor surrounded by family and friends. He had been battling cancer for the past five years.

Randy was born in Marshall on December 14, 1958, to George E. and Alice L. (Wilson) Loyer. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1977, where he played football. In August 1979, he married Teresa VandenHeede. Together they had three children - Kristi, Lisa, and Joseph. Their marriage ended in divorce. On September 15, 1990, he married Patricia A. Brubaker in Marshall. They have two daughters, Emily and Megan.

Randy worked at Eaton Corporation in Marshall for 28 years before they closed in 2006. From 1992-2012, Randy and Dave Delaney owned and operated D&L Eavestroughing. For many years they worked hard at two jobs and have eavestroughed many houses in Marshall and the surrounding area. After Eaton's closed, Randy worked for a few summers for the City Rec Department maintaining the Marshall Athletic fields. Most recently he had been working part-time for his brother, Mark, at Party Time Tents.

Randy was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping. He also enjoyed getting a good workout cutting wood. He enjoyed hanging out in his barn, going for car rides, watching the Detroit Lions and Tigers, gardening and canning, and spending time with family and friends, Wednesdays were always special because he spent the day with his daughter Emily and it was Taco Wednesday. He also looked forward to the annual trip to Green Bay with Jon Schmidt and friends to watch the Packers versus Lions football game.

Randy is survived by his wife, Patty of Olivet; children - Kristi (Josh Moore) Loyer of Graymont, Illinois; Joseph (Tara) Loyer of Danvers, Illinois; Emily Loyer at home; and Megan (David Lieber) Loyer of Kalamazoo; grandchildren - Elisa Ruiz, Olivia Loyer, Kendall Loyer, and Colton Loyer; and great granddaughter Elaina Pagel; siblings - Mark (Karen) Loyer of Marshall; Marcia Lopp of Marshall; and Mike (Lorri) Loyer of Bellevue; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lisa Loyer.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 2-8pm, with family present to greet friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US 27 North, Marshall. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11am on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. Craig K. Kempf officiating.
Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Family will gather with friends following committal services at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services Marshall Chapel Reception Hall.Memorial contributions are requested to his daughter, the Emily Loyer Trust (payable to Patty Loyer).
