Rachel Anne Hummel

Rachel Anne Hummel, 38, of Marshall, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Battle Creek.

She was born on December 8, 1983 to Douglas Hummel and Robin (Gregerson) Hummel in Marshall.

Rachel worked as a Clerk for Shell Gas Station-Marshall.

Rachel loved to read, listen to current new music, rollerblading and playing volleyball. She was a great student and a very empathetic person who had lots of friends and helped many people with what they were going through. Rachel will be truly missed for her determination and being fiercely independent, while at a very young age she told her Mom not to hug her in front of her friends in Preschool.

Rachel is survived by her mother; Robin Smith of Marshall, her children; Chris J. Wilson of Marshall and Katie Lee Wilson of Albion, her maternal grandmother; Eva Gregerson of Grand Rapids, her paternal grandmother; Irene "Mimi" (Tony) Nieboer of Kalamazoo, her brother; Jason (Melanie) Hummel of Marshall, Cody Smith of Marshall and Kenneth Smith of Marshall, her special friend; Stacey Dew of Marshall. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father; Douglas Hummel, her maternal grandfather; Richard W. Gregerson and her paternal grandfather; Keith R. Hummel.

A Celebration of Rachel's life will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Our hearts are broken, she will be sadly missed by us who love her.
