Peggie L. (Murphy) Roberts

Peggie L. Roberts 86, of Jackson, formally of Houghton Lake died on Monday September 28, 2020 at her son's home in Grand Rapids following a long illness.
Peggie was born on January 11, 1934 in Charlotte to Edward and Lois (Bland) Murphy. She graduated from Plainwell High School in 1952. In 1952 she married James E. Riley Jr., and together they had four children. Their marriage ended in divorce. On April 17, 1971 she married J. Dallas Roberts in Houghton Lake. He preceded her in death in 2006.
Peggie was a legal secretary for John Hasty in Houghton Lake for many years. Following her retirement, she helped her husband J. Dallas Roberts with bookkeeping for his business, Dallas Roberts Seawalls and Masonry where they installed many seawalls in the Houghton and Higgins Lake area for many years. Peggie enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping. She also enjoyed knitting, gardening, and spending the winters in Key Largo for 16 years.
She is survived by her children, Timothy (Bonnie) Riley, Patrick (Vickie) Riley, James E. (Lorie) Riley III, Teresa (Al) Donahee; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother Kelly Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and a sister Patricia Baker.
Visitation will take place from 12-2pm on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068 with a funeral service taking place at 2pm. A private family interment will take place at a later date at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
