Pearl Mitsuko (Nishioka) Baremor

October 23, 1940 — February 19, 2021

Pearl Mitsuko (Nishioka) Baremor passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19th at the Glen Arbor Hospice Residence after a brief illness. She was born on October 23, 1940, in Hakalau, Hawaii, on a Sugar Cane Plantation, about 9 miles north of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. Her upbringing in a close-knit community instilled in her the strong value of volunteering that she maintained throughout her lifetime.
Graduating from Hilo High School in 1957, Pearl continued her education at the University of Minnesota where she graduated in 1961 with Bachelor of Science in Social Work, specializing in Geriatrics.
After graduating from Minnesota, and while living in the Lansing area, she met Jerry Baremor, the cousin of her roommate, in 1964 and they were married on April 10, 1965. Jerry & Pearl moved to Marshall in September 1969, and Pearl became an active member of the community in a variety of areas: Girl Scout troop leader from elementary through High School; Junior Great Books Volunteer; Home Tour Hostess at various homes from late 1960's through 2015; Honolulu House Tour Guide - 2015 where she shared the true Aloha spirit with all visitors to the Marshall tourist attraction.
Often a chaperone for her children's class trips, many of her children's classmates would also receive "pictures from Pearl" to memorialize various outings and events. Both Jerry and Lara have been comforted by the outpouring of memories and hearing the impact Pearl's extensive volunteering had on people's lives even up to 40 years later - especially with Girl Scouts, Marching Band and Junior Great Books. Pearl cherished the thank you notes she has received over the years from students she worked with or provided tours for the Honolulu House or Capital Hill School. Pearl had a strong, independent, welcoming presence and always had a bright smile. Known for her spirited debates and inquisitive conversations, her daughter is proud to carry on those characteristics she inherited from her. Jerry is grateful for the 55 plus years they shared together.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents Charles H. Nishioka and Maile T. Nishioka, brother Robert T. Nishioka, and son Jared M. Baremor. She is survived by her immediate family - husband Jerry and daughter Lara (Paul) Juras and her grandchildren, Kiana and Joshua all of Woodbury, MN and her brother David J. Nishioka of Hilo, HI.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
