Patricia Ann (Fouts) Schmidt

Patricia A. Schmidt, age 77, of Albion died Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek.
Mrs. Schmidt was born on October 11, 1942 in Albion to Neville Albin and Irene Belle (Skinner) Fouts. She has been a lifelong resident of the Albion area and was a graduate of Albion High School, class of 1960. Pat continued her education attending Jackson Community College and received her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She served the community of Albion for many years working at the Sheldon Memorial Hospital.
On February 22, 1964, she married Wesley "Wes" L. Schmidt in Albion.
Pat was an avid golfer and had been a member at the Duck Lake Country Club. She also was a member of the Albion Hospital Service League. She is remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, crocheting, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and enjoyed eating sweet treats.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wesley L. Schmidt; a daughter, Gayle Wireman (Eric Rusch) of Grand Rapids; a son, Wesley N. (Keri Ann) Schmidt of Homer; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Donna Fouts of Albion, Sandy Good of Lansing and Carol Fouts of Coconut Creek, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Gary Fouts and Jerry Fouts (infant) and sister, Tammy Fouts (infant).
The family will be gathering with friends on Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 12 noon to 1 PM at the Salem United Church of Christ, 113 W. Pine Street, Albion, Michigan for a time of visitation and sharing sweet treats. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 PM Saturday at the church with Pastor Loree Grinnell officiating.
