Odula Marie Greenawalt, 93, of Bellevue, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Brookdale Battle Creek surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 14, 1926 to Homer and Ella (Baderger) Basinger in Pandora, Ohio. Odula graduated from Pandora High School in 1944 and then she met and later married Raymond Waldo Greenawalt on April 27, 1946 in Greenup, Kentucky, sadly he preceded her in death on December 28, 2000.
Odula loved being a homemaker, as she would be sewing clothes, flower or vegetable gardening or cooking and baking. Odula and Raymond enjoyed canning many of the vegetables they grew. She always had coffee and cookies ready for visitors. Odula enjoyed being out in the yard, reading, doing puzzle books and jig saw puzzles, but there was nothing that brought her more joy than her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children; Sharon (Ron) Thornhill of Bellevue and Darrel (Tammy) Greenawalt of Richland, her grandchildren; Jackie, Eric, Gregg, William, Charles and Darren, her many great and great great grandchildren and her 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Raymond, her daughter; Pamela Simpson, her grandson; Thomas Thornhill, her 6 brothers of which 2 died at infancy and her 3 sisters.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Kindred Hospice.
Per Odula’s request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue.
