Norman Earl Walters, 88, of Marshall, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Brookdale Memory Care in Battle Creek.

He was born on April 24, 1933 to Earl and Anna (Liggett) in Marengo Township, Michigan. He was a 1951 graduate of Marshall High School. On November 1, 1952 he married Jacqueline Wiersema in Marshall.

Norman entered the United States Army on March 4, 1953 during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on February 28, 1955 attaining the rank of PFC. He also spent 6 months with the Merchant Marines stationed in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.

He worked as a Maintenance Machinist with Kellogg Cereal Company for 27 years, retiring in 1991.

Norman enjoyed helping with the Junior Achievement groups that would come through Kellogg's. He enjoyed reading books by James Oliver Curwood and Jean Stratton Porter as well as watching Hee Haw and Lawrence Welk. A couple of Norman's favorite pastimes were traveling to Michigan's Upper Peninsula and working outside on the farm.

Norman is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline, his children; Bonnie (Scott) Ellis of Battle Creek, Karen (Duane) Sly of Marshall, and John (Laura Freeman) Walters of Richland, his seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and his daughter-In-Law, Marilou Walters of Marshall.

He was preceded in death by his parents his son, Marc Walters, and his sister, Dorothy Wireman.

A private graveside service was held at Porter Cemetery, Convis Township, Michigan.
