Michael "Mike" Marvin Brandt, 62 of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his home.
Mike was born on June 2, 1958 to Marvin Jack and Florence (Collins) Brandt in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was a 1977 graduate of Pennfield High School.
He held many jobs in the Battle Creek area, Coleman Rent to Own, Knowles Heating and Cooling, Kidder Heating and Cooling, Quality Heating and Cooling, Community Action Agency and most recently he was head of maintenance at Glenn Valley Apartments for the past 5 years.
Mike was a member of the Pennfield High School graduate group, the Calhoun County Tractor Club and the Michigan Horse Breeders Association.
He loved his son Michael Stephen Brandt more than anyone could love a child. He often said that he was his best friend. He loved to travel, especially to Kentucky to see his brother and sister-in-law. He loved to take his granddaughters to the Upper Peninsula and go camping. Mike was a devoted family man, as he would go to his son and daughter-in- laws home in Parma, Michigan to help out with building box-stalls for their horse rescue or to just spend quality time with them. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing, He loved to go with his brother's, his son and grandchildren. Mike enjoyed his faithful companion dog Maggie.
Mike was an avid fisherman, he also enjoyed camping, canoeing, kayaking, car races, tractor pulls, gardening, grilling, rodeos, playing cards, traveling and hanging out with his family, especially his son.
Mike is survived by his son, Michael Stephen (Jessica) Brandt of Parma, Michigan; his step son's, Keith (Andrea) Tate, Jay Gutherie, Donald Gutherie and Ronnie Tate; his step daughter, Dani Meyers; his grandchildren, Nevaeh Brandt, Ronnie Tate, Stetson Lipp, Alyssa Lipp, Paige Vaughan, Brittney Vaughan, Jason Vaughan Jr, Dylan Tate and Payton Tate; his brother's, Bill (Joe) Katz and Doug (Mary) Brandt; his nieces, Jamie Katz, Shawn Katz Meyer and Alesha Dawn and his nephew, David Katz. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Valerie Butcher in 2015, his parents, his brother, Jackie Brandt and his nephew, Steve Carey.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Lyon Lake Cemetery, Fredonia Township, Michigan.
