Maynard Lynn Oberlin

July 7, 1944 — February 5, 2020

Maynard L. Oberlin, age 75, of Marshall died Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Medilodge of Marshall.

Mr. Oberlin was born on July 7, 1944 in Battle Creek to Maynard and Okla (Farver) Oberlin.  He was a lifelong resident of the Battle Creek and Marshall areas and was a graduate of the Pennfield High School, class of 1962.  Maynard had been employed as a Millwright for the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek for 32 years.  He retired in 1999.  He proudly served in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.

On June 8, 1974, he married the former Sherry J. DeYoung of Kalamazoo in Marshall.

Maynard was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club.  He also was a member of the Battle Creek First Assembly Church where he served as an usher.  Maynard was an active volunteer serving the Lakeview Food Pantry.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry; sons, Scott (Sherilyn) Oberlin of TorC, NM, Gordon (Cassey) Oberlin of Coldwater, Robert Oberlin of NM and Wayne (Jamie) Oberlin of Battle Creek; a grandson, Robbie Oberlin; brother, Kenneth (Sandy) Oberlin of Battle Creek; and a sister, Elizabeth (Stuart) DeLand of Charlotte.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30AM on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Battle Creek First Assembly Church, 800 S. 24th Street, Battle Creek.

Committal services at Fort Custer National Cemetery will be scheduled in the spring for the family.
