Matthew Steven Burrett

Matthew "Matt" Steven Burrett, 28, of Gold Canyon, Arizona formerly of East Leroy, Michigan passed away unexpectedly from a stroke while at work on July 8, 2020 in Mesa, Arizona.
Matthew was born on April 14, 1992 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Gregory and Michelle Burrett. He was a 2011 graduate of Harper Creek High School. On his yearly visits back to Michigan, he would always make a point to get together with his friends from school and especially with Allison, Billy and Mark.
Matt had "an old soul" and enjoyed listening to music from the 30's, 40's and 50's. His favorite singer was Bing Crosby. He loved to play the piano and sing, posting his music online for others to enjoy. Matt and his older sister, Rhiannon were able to travel to Italy, England, Ireland, Scotland and France. He was grateful for the experience to visit other countries with his sister's travel club.
Matt was an avid online gamer. He had many friends online and even had an opportunity to meet a gaming friend from Scotland on one of his trips. His gaming friend even brought his family to meet Matt.
Matt worked at Babbo's Italian Restaurant in Mesa, Arizona and also at their other location throughout the Phoenix area. He liked going to work where his co-workers called him Mr. Rogers because of his positive attitude.
Matt was very strong in his faith in God. He was a member at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church in Gold Canyon, Arizona. Matt always believed in helping others. His last act on Earth was to share the gift of life for others through the Donor Network of Arizona.
Matthew is survived by his mother; Michelle Burrett of East Leroy, Michigan, his sisters; Rhiannon (Jon) Oldfield of Gold Canyon, Arizona and Heather Burrett of Battle Creek, Michigan and his maternal grandfather; Gary (Maylene "Rusty") Bonnell of Battle Creek, Michigan. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; Gregory Burrett, his twin brother; Michael Burrett his maternal grandparents; Robert (Sharon) Thomas and his paternal grandparents; Larry (Margaret) Burrett.
A memorial service to honor Matt's life will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Battle Creek, Michigan. Interment will take place at Morgan Cemetery in Leroy Township, Michigan.
