Mary L. (Hendrickson) Bynum

Mary L. Bynum, 98 of Marshall died on Monday January 6, 2020 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing following short illness.

Mary was born on July 23, 1921 in Battle Creek to Don and Grace (Wood) Hendrickson.  She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1940.  On June 22, 1940 she married Frank J. Bynum in Battle Creek.  He preceded her in death in 2008.

Mary trained new employees in the Auto Department at State Farm Insurance at the Marshall Regional Office for 27 years.  She retired in 1984. Following her retirement, she worked for 17 years at the Youth Haven Ranch in Arizona.  Mary was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Battle Creek. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and baking.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Tina and Tom Hursey of Okemos; two grandchildren Todd (Nicki) Hursey and Tyler (Christie) Hursey; and five great-grandchildren, Jane, Thomas, Laura, Andrew, and Rachel.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Willard, Joe, and Walter Hendrickson; and sisters, Cynthia Sweet and Margaret Wakeman.

A celebration of life will take place at later date in the Summer of 2020. A private interment has taken place at Newbre Cemetery.
