Marvel V. (Hecker) Garrow

Marvel V. Garrow, age 88, of Olivet, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek.

She was born on April 24, 1932 to Vern and Helen (Miller) Hecker in Nashville, Michigan. She was a graduate of Nashville High School. Marvel was married to Robert Garrow and sadly he preceded her in death on March 20, 2016.

Marvel was a well-known and longtime waitress for Olivet College Inn in downtown Olivet.

She was a member of the Olivet Fire Department Woman's Auxiliary. She was instrumental in organizing the Olivet Fire Fighter Appreciation Days. She will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and laughter. Marvel enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, bowling, reading, crossword puzzles and gardening. Her most favorite times were being with her family and surrounded by her grandchildren.

Marvel is survived by her daughters, Becky L. Palmer of Hastings, Michigan and Debby A.  (Roy) Culp-Testolin of Marshall, Michigan, her sister, Carol Aber of  Battle Creek, Michigan, her grandchildren, Jeffrey Perry of Hastings, Michigan, Jonathon Perry of Bellevue, Michigan,  and Laura Norton of Olivet, Michigan and her great grandchildren, Robert Perry, Charlie Perry,  Dalton Perry, Zack Perry, Taylor Norton and Tyler Norton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, her son Daniel, her siblings, Russell and Lawrence Hecker, Marian Flook, Liz DePriester and Janice Hecker.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 11:00 am at Lakeview Cemetery in Nashville, Michigan with Pastor Rick Gorham of Calvary Chapel in Battle Creek, Michigan officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the Olivet Memorial Tree Fund or the Olivet Fire Department.
